Kamaia Legal Conference
The yearly meeting for people who run legal work in Angola: general counsel, in-house lawyers, partners and legal operations teams.
It is not a conference about substantive law — there are plenty of good ones. It is about the other half of the job: how work comes in, gets planned, budgeted, assigned and closed. The programme favours real cases told by the people who lived them, including the parts that went wrong.
What happens on the day
- Opening. The state of legal management in Angola, with the year's data.
- Cases. Three organisations on what they changed, with before-and-after figures.
- Panel. In-house teams and law firms face to face on scope, fees and deadlines.
- Breakouts. Contracts, team capacity, and the metrics a board asks for.
- Close. An hour of open conversation, with nobody on a stage.

Working session
Kamaia Workshop
Half a day, a single topic, a small group. Everyone brings a live case and leaves with the thing built — not with notes.
It is the shortest format we run and the most direct: little lecturing, a lot of work on the table. It runs several times a year as an open session, and can be closed for a single organisation.

- The scope letter. Writing scope you can defend — and the conversation when more is asked for.
- Budgeting by phase. Breaking work down, stating assumptions, quoting a range.
- Instructing well. What to require from a firm before work leaves the building.
- The front door. Designing the intake form and the triage behind it.
- Metrics. The five numbers a board asks for, and how to produce them.
